WHY JOIN WCYD?

Wine Country Young Democrats is Sonoma County’s only youth-led Democratic Club and remains a powerful voice within local politics. Our influence, reach, and recognition amongst the Sonoma County Democratic Party, and its 9 other officially Chartered Clubs, as well as with the California Young Democrats (CYD), heightens our ability to uplift young voices. We believe that to make real progress on the issues we care about starts by mobilizing from the bottom on up.

What Fight for the Issues Affecting Our Generation. It is no secret that we have inherited a world much different from that of our parents and grandparents. We believe that our moment now is to be bold. From advocating to end the housing and homelessness crisis, immigration reform, criminal justice, climate change, healthcare as a right, and education for all, WCYD’s goal is to help you become our future leaders

We Can Connect You With Activist and Political Resources Across Sonoma County. WCYD is not only a political entity. We are also an organization that believes that community engagement and political activism go together. We believe that real change at the local level happens both in our neighborhoods and the halls of government. Our club can provide you with resources to connect with our local elected officials, community activist groups, and volunteer opportunities. Some examples include:

  • Internship and Volunteer Opportunities

  • A chance for Meet and Greets with your local elected officials and their offices

  • Democratic Conventions and Functions across Sonoma County and California

  • Connections to Leaders and Change-Makers in the community fighting for the same issue we believe in.

MEMBERSHIP FEE / WHO CAN JOIN

We encourage everyone to join! Membership is available to people ages 13 - 35, and we’ve opened an “Honorary Member/Sustainer” membership for young-at-heart Democrats ages 36+ who want to stay involved.

HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT: Free!

STUDENT MEMBERSHIP: $15 Annual Membership

YOUNG PROFESSIONAL MEMBERSHIP: $25 Annual Membership

HONORARY MEMBER/SUSTAINER (Ages 36+): $30 Annual Membership

Citizenship or being registered to vote is not requirement to join (although we do recommend registering to vote if you are able)!
