2020 Wine Country Young Democrats Executive Board

Sean Smith graduated from Sonoma State University with a degree in Applied Mathematics. He joined the Wine Country Young Democrats because he wanted to direct the passion he was feeling about the current political climate productively. He likes cats, enjoys grand strategy games, and has had more experiences with our healthcare system then he'd prefer.

Elizabeth Escalante, M.Ed. is a new member to the Wine Country Young Democrats executive board and current Vice President. Being one of WCYD’s founding members when the club initially began, she is now taking on a role to help keep WCYD going. When not actively engaging in local politics, Elizabeth serves as a middle school special education teacher in Sonoma County and is a candidate in the Administrative Services credential program. Elizabeth specializes in systems of public education, pedagogy, and educational leadership and intends to put forward some of these elements of her practice to move WCYD forward. Elizabeth brings special attention to expanding membership outreach, activating current and new voters, and honoring the diversity of Sonoma County through the work of WCYD..

Lael Joseph is a current junior at Santa Rosa High School, where she is the captain of the school's cross-country and track teams. She serves her community through a variety of local organizations: she is a Teen Leader at Ceres Community Project, the secretary of Kaiser’s Teen Advisory Council, an intern at Mike Thompson’s Santa Rosa District Office, and now the Communications Director of the WCYD, as well as a dedicated honors student. She enjoys long runs in Annadel, live music, and NYT crosswords.

Alan Ramey is the former President, Vice-President and Secretary of the Wine Country Young Democrats. He is also the fundraising chair of the Sonoma County Democratic Party and works in the wine business.
